KQ 2: Respect MO Voters Aims to Protect Ballot Measures in 2026 Midterms

(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) Respect MO Voters is an initiative by the group Show Me Integrity to protect ballot measures in Missouri.

Their goals, as stated on their website, are to prevent politicians from:

  1. "Interfering with initiatives that voters have already passed.

  2. Attacking citizens' ability to use the initiative process.

  3. Manipulating tricky language on ballots to mislead voters."

The group plans to hold town hall meetings around the state to shape the ballot language and collect 300,000 signatures.

They plan for this amendment to be on the ballot for the 2026 mid-terms.

"And we've had people come to our meetings who said, 'You know what, I'm not interested in getting involved in any partisan politics, I don't even have a lot of spare time, but this is so important to me, because I'm so sick and tired of politicians continuing to ignore and undo the will of the people. '" Benjamin Singer, CEO of Show Me Integrity said.

"So the energy has been unbelievable. We've never seen a level of volunteer engagement and leadership, like we're seeing."
