KRCU: Respect Voters Coalition Town Hall
On Thursday, February 27, the new, cross-partisan, Respect Voters Coalition will hold a town hall to gather citizen input as part of a campaign to defend Missouri’s ballot initiative process and pre-empt any legislation that undermines the century-old Constitutional freedom.
WHAT:
Town Hall, the sixth of 24 throughout the state of Missouri, for citizen input to write a constitutional amendment and launch a campaign banning politicians from continuing to attack the ballot initiative process.

WHY:
Area residents are invited to say what they want in the policy to ban politicians from attacking the will of the people. A statewide town hall campaign launched in Rolla inside the Phelps County Courthouse on February 5 and will continue around the state.

The statewide, cross-partisan Respect Voters Coalition has launched a campaign of 24 Town Halls across Missouri to write a constitutional amendment and launch a ballot initiative campaign to ban politicians from continuing to attack the citizen ballot initiative process, including with biased ballot language.
During the past session, the Missouri legislature placed deceptive language on the 2024 ballot, and attempted to pass multiple bills that would effectively gut the ballot initiative process, stripping away a Constitutional right from Missourians. Their attacks aim to make it impossible for the people to have a check on government power.
Article I, Section 1 of the Missouri Constitution says, “that all political power is vested in and derived from the people; that all government of right originates from the people, is founded upon their will only, and is instituted solely for the good of the whole.”
