We have
one week left.
Last week, 421 volunteer gatherers
delivered 19,000 signatures in just 7
days. Now, imagine the impact if all
1,646 of us who have collected
signatures are on the ground at the
same time.
We CAN reach our goal. It isn't
about working harder; it’s about all
of us working at once.
This is a movement of volunteers
asking fellow volunteers to dig deep.
We know the weight of this request,
because we are carrying it with you.
Whatever your reason is for joining
this campaign, please lean into that
purpose now, and take action.
Sign the petition,
get trained
and/or
collect signatures this week.

Signature Gatherers! This
Week...Knock Your Block
|
Your neighbors are some of the most
likely people to say yes to signing our
petition—they know you. Sometime this
week, take an hour or two to walk your
block, knock a few doors, and ask for
signatures.
If every volunteer does it, it adds up
fast—and can mean thousands of
signatures across Missouri
|
|
|
Help us activate more signature
gatherers! Sign up to make calls to our
existing volunteers to get them
scheduled for upcoming shifts.
We’ll provide all the training you need
to get started making calls.

In the News: The Stakes are High
|
As reported in the New York Times, the
attack on the citizen initiative isn't
just within Missouri's borders. Across
multiple states, from Florida to North
Dakota, legislatures are threatening
direct democracy.
|
|
|
Our legislature was singled out for
attempting to make the petition process
nearly impossible:
"In Missouri, the legislature placed a
measure on the ballot that would set an
even higher bar: Citizen-sponsored
amendments to the state constitution would
have to win in each of the state’s eight
U.S. [congressional] districts.
An initiative that wins 95 percent of
the vote statewide could lose if it
fails in a single district."
This doesn't sound like democracy to us.
In this final stretch to ballot
qualification, let's turn the tide against
the challenges to the citizen initiative!

Gathering signatures is the most urgent
need right now, and it’s what moves this
campaign forward. If you want to do more
or are looking for a different role, there
are other ways to support the campaign
too. From outreach to onboarding to
behind-the-scenes support, every role
helps more signatures get collected and
turned in.

Meet
Barbara and Scott Smith, key members of our Pony Express
(our incredible team of drivers). They
have put in a lot of miles to get
supplies and petitions wherever they
need to be across the state. Barbara
might drive to Mid-Missouri and back
and Scott will run loads to and from
the Verification Center. No task is
too big or too small. They simply do
whatever it takes.
Both have been with Respect MO Voters
since the early days, and have watched
our campaign turn into a more
well-oiled machine. "They just needed
to find the right people for the right
spot," says Barbara.
Keep on trucking,
Barbara and Scott!

Respect MO Voters is a
cross-partisan, grassroots movement
building a more ethical, effective
government of, by, and for the people.
Join our coalition to protect direct
democracy from politicians who want to
take away our fundamental freedom to
self-government. Together, we will use
the citizen ballot initiative process
to repair our republic.
