Speakers and volunteers at our August 7 rally in Jefferson City. |
Through months of petitioning and our major victory against Amendment 4, this community has moved mountains. While seeing politicians try to block our work is frustrating, we want to reassure you that our legal team is fighting back on every front. Our circuit court case is set for this Tuesday and we will push for a decisive ruling before the September 8th ballot certification deadline.
As our legal team handles the courtroom, our real power lives on the ground. The edge is where our movement grows and wins. Growing our volunteer numbers isn't someone else's job — it starts with you. |

🚨 LEGAL UPDATE: Harris v. Hoskins |
On August 6, Respect Missouri Voters supporters filed Harris v. Hoskins challenging the Secretary of State's attempt to block Amendment 6. At an August 11 preliminary hearing, court filings showed the Secretary of State admitted our petition met the signature requirement. The Cole County Circuit Court trial is set for Tuesday, August 18. Because election cases move rapidly by law, appeals through the Missouri Court of Appeals and Missouri Supreme Court, if needed, are expected to follow quickly. We remain confident that our legal position will prevail.

When it comes to door-knocking, Aimee Smith is a machine. She worked on no less than four petitions last year and two more this year, including our initiative. She went out to talk to voters with her district leader, who learned to handle the work by watching Aimee do her stuff.
“I like talking to someone on their doorstep,” Aimee says. And for her, there’s nothing better than getting a signature from someone who is way on the opposite end of the political spectrum. Her healthcare background helps. “I talk to people 24/7. There are no strangers.” Thanks for being such a workhorse for us, Aimee! |
