Respect MO Voters volunteers at an MOGOTV canvassing kickoff rally |
|
|
There is a massive, statewide movement underway to defeat Amendment 4. Volunteers knocked more than 9,000 doors on Saturday to get out the vote. Organizations across Missouri and across party lines are mobilizing to protect the citizen's initiative petition. Because there’s power in numbers, our volunteers are joining these local canvassing events to get out the vote before election day.
Early voting begins Tuesday, July 21, and the deadline to request your mail-in absentee ballot is Wednesday, July 22. |

With these critical dates days away, we are asking you to give whatever time you can to ensure power stays in the hands of voters. Get up to speed on our canvassing and other ways we’re working to defeat Amendment 4 in our All Volunteer Field Call tomorrow at 6 p.m. |

Who Amends the Missouri Constitution the Most? Between 1908 and 2025, more than 80% of amendments to the Missouri constitution came from politicians—not citizens. Politicians in Jefferson City want you to believe that regular voters are the ones constantly changing our state's constitution, but their own track record exposes the truth. To make matters worse, they frequently use intentionally confusing or biased ballot summaries to trick voters at the finish line.
Amendment 4 isn't about protecting the constitution. It is a direct assault on the citizen initiative process. By intentionally restricting the path for citizen-initiated amendments, it is a calculated power grab designed to permanently silence the voices of Missouri voters. |

Hope Schaeffer has gathered signatures, served as a notary, and coordinated with the logistics team to deliver materials to volunteers. And lately she has stepped up to lead canvassing events as we work to prevent Amendment 4 from passing.
"Knocking on doors gets easier over time," says Hope. And, she notes, we have tools to avoid knocking on doors where we already know our message will be unwelcome.
When she's not working to preserve our 118-year history of voter initiatives, she joins in folk dances going back to the Elizabethan era. Thanks for protecting our traditions, Hope! |
