ICYMI: Hundreds of Respect Missouri Voters Volunteers Rally in Jefferson City

Just over 24 hours after the Respect MO Voters lawsuit against the Secretary of State was filed, hundreds of Respect MO Voters volunteers from across the state rallied in Jefferson City, where the Secretary of State’s office is located.

The Secretary of State, in a decision without precedent, rejected the petition despite it having previously been approved for circulation. After more than 367,000 Missourians signed the petition, volunteers gathered to make clear Missouri voters should have the opportunity to vote on Amendment 6.

After collecting hundreds of thousands of signatures, the Respect MO Voters coalition is sending two clear messages: Respect MO Voters and Let MO Vote.

For many of the volunteers who attended the rally with less than 24 hours notice, this represented months of hard work and conversations with fellow Missourians. They traveled from every corner of the state, some driving for hours, to stand together and make clear the voices of the Missourians who signed the petition deserve to be heard. 

Amendment 6 will:

• Require ballot summaries to be clear, unbiased, fair, accurate, and easy to understand.

• Preserve our century-old constitutional freedom to petition.

• Make it harder for politicians to change or undo what the people have already voted on.
