Our Vote No on Amendment 4 campaign is officially off to a great start! |
|
|
This weekend, volunteers kicked off our field efforts. Team members went door-to-door in local neighborhoods and connected with folks at community events to spread the word about the threat to citizen-led initiatives on the August ballot.
Just like our Respect Missouri Voters signature gathering drive proved, these one-on-one conversations are our greatest strength. Connecting across regional, demographic, and party lines is exactly how we win, and we’ll be out there until Election Day. Read on for upcoming volunteer opportunities! |

Amendment 4 is a Power-Grab by Politicians |
Amendment 4 was written by politicians, for politicians. They don’t like that the people are proposing measures that go against their big donors and special interest groups—and winning. This is the latest attack in a decades-long effort by politicians in Jefferson City to make it harder for voters to have the final say.
By imposing strict requirements on citizen-led amendments, Amendment 4 makes it nearly impossible for citizens to pass ballot measures. This essentially destroys a critical check on government, making it harder for people to hold politicians accountable. Amendment 4 strips away the power of the people — so politicians and special interests get all the power. |

Alyssa Askani is all about improvisation. As Regional Field Coordinator in the Bootheel, she watches over a widely scattered flock of volunteers with a wide variety of needs. She even helped a team member with no computer and only a landline phone get involved.
Alyssa just soldiers on. "I figure, hey, eyes on the prize," she says.
When she's not working to protect Missouri voters' rights, she's often found banging out another book. Her genre, science fiction and apocalypse stories, includes such gems as "Loyalty of Severus." (Published under the name "Len Berry.")
Thanks for all you do, Alyssa! |
